The core and inspiration for Encoresoup is the set of Wikipedia's FOSS articles managed by the Free Software WikiProject. Encoresoup seeks to build on and enhance this content in the following ways :

• Include many more articles. Practically any Free/Open Source Software project can be documented here (but see our inclusion policy) and we hope one day to host articles covering the vast majority of projects.
• From brief Usage notes, to Howto's, to fully-fledged Manuals. We believe a Wiki is to documentation what the Bazaar model is to software development. Too many FOSS projects have little or no documentation. We hope to provide an environment where documentation can grow and evolve from the contributions of it's users.
• Comprehensive information. Building on the 'infobox' already included with many articles, we intend to add additional information, starting with package availability for several popular Linux distributions.
• Later on, we hope to be able to introduce additional features, such as being able to browse project source code and bug reports without leaving the site.

Like all projects with such lofty goals, we start from relatively humble beginnings. With your help, we can make Encoresoup live up to it's dream of becoming "The Ultimate Guide to Free/Open Source Software"
